Sean Kelly and I have teamed up for the very first time to make a collaborative piece for the show.
Here's what they look like...
No prizes for guessing which Bunee is mine!
FreQee is an exhibition featuring the work of 50 contemporary counter-culture artists, including Graffiti Artists, Tattooists, Graphic Designers, Comix Artists and more. Each artist will start with the same object, a blank 9” designer vinyl toy, and then create an artwork in their own individual style.
The FreQee exhibition will be held at Brisbane Powerhouse from the 28th of August tothe 9th of September 2007, with the official opening party on Friday August the 31st from 7pm until midnight. The opening night will feature live DJ’s and door prizes, including Tattoo vouchers from All Star Tattoo, t-shirt packs and voucher from Berserk Clothing and a 9” DIY Bunee QEE.

Vinylpulse.com made my day by actually having a photo of my toy- I know it's not brilliant, but c'mon I did a better paint job than lots of other people!

I was asked to be involved in the upcoming D.I.Y. BART SIMPSON QEE PROJECT by Toy2R
This was actually quite annoying to custom as it's such a recognizable character.
The theme for this one was of weird nightmares and jumpsuit pajamas.

The D.I.Y. Qee Project: BART presented by TOY2R and Diamond Comics.
TOY2R has assembled a virtual who's who list of today's hottest pop
culture artists, designers and illustrators from around the world. Each
artist will paint, sculpt, and customize their own unique re-interputation
of the iconic character, Bart Simpson, using as a blank canvas the 10"
D.I.Y. Bart Simpson Blank Platform Qee Figure. Many of these artists
have either grown up watching The Simpsons or inspired by its
creativity, humor or sardonic look at life. To bring these original
creations to the fans, TOY2R and Diamond Comics are launching a
worldwide art gallery tour stopping at respected galleries and art
boutiques.
The World Premiere of these custom D.I.Y. figures and the very first
release of the 3" Classic Bart Qee figures will happen July 5 through
the 8th, 2008 at the Taipei Toy Festival. Shortly after that the US
will see the custom figures on display at the San Diego Comic Con, July
25th through the 29th in conjunction with the release of the 3" Classic
Bart Qees.
The D.I.Y. Qee Project will then move to art galleries. The list of
galleries will include stops in Los Angeles, New York, Chicago, Dallas
and other major cities in the United States. Simultaneously overseas,
the tour will stop start at Colette in Paris, France on July 23rd
through the 28th. Then the tour will move to Florence, Italy to Luisa
Via Roma during September 10th through the 30th. Other overseas stops
will include the United Kingdom, Hong Kong and many others.
