I spend lots of time on the internet looking at pictures, I collect them, I comment on them and I somehow burn them to my brain and recall them as needed.
Here's three pictures I've seen recently that I find quite puzzling... If these three artists have no idea of each-others art there will be a good argument for brain-melding.
Oh, and Marijka (Binks)- She's my sister and after a few hot hours under the interrogation lamp she still swears she hasn't seen the other two pictures... I believe her, she doesn't even know how to use the internet. (Ok she does... but only for E-mail and to spy on my blog and yell at me later.)
Need a hand?
Yes, we're back...and...well...we're loving it!
No offence to the lovely people we met and know in Sydney, but there's a few things a Melbourne duo can miss about home like coffee, friendly service and trams.
For those of you who don't know, Sean and I had our first exhibition in Sydney over the weekend, or to be more exact at Ruban Rat (vinyl toy store) in Newtown.
Ruban Rat is located on King street and stocks a variety of vinyl toys, blind boxes, books/magazines and t'shirts.
The stock is selected by the owner Rachel who in my eyes has great taste in these things and if you live nearby you should definitely go down and take a look at what's in stock.
Sean and I picked up a wooden "Hells Proprietor" by Glenn Barr and a "Dr Destruction" by Muttpop.
Newtown is probably the closest Sydney gets to being like home with a few good cafes and an abundance of Thai food that kept us well fed.
Opening night went well, we met some really nice people who came to appreciate our work despite the rain, (apparently rain keeps the Sydney people away) and landed a few sales too.
Sean and I worked on our first ever collaborative print specifically for the show called "Fight Like Rabbits", coming in at over a meter in length this is one hell of a print.
If you can't make it to the show you can purchase it as a Giclée print on cotton rag paper (limited edition of 10 worldwide!) over at BucketoThought.com
Huge thanks to Will and Nell for putting us up for our stay, their hospitality knows no bounds, and to Winston and Jess (their dogs) for jumping all over Sean.
Another big thank-you to Rachel at Ruban Rat for putting up with our bickering during setup and constant bitching about Sydney.

As you may know by now Sean and I were lucky enough to be in the Villain Store Cut Outs show.
For this we had to create a piece of artwork in cut out format in either, paper, wood or mixed media. As we're both digital artists (well more that than anything else in our repertoire) we had our pieces printed out and mounted into foam-core by the very helpful Matt (Stink) from Visy.
Taking a step backwards into our past inspirations we both produced pieces with an Asian flair.
Mine, a geisha and Sean's, Monkey Magic fighting a demon.
Everyone had their own unique interpretation of the cut out theme with pieces ranging from sculpted wood and metal to 2D plywood, and even a pile of dirt was brought in for GhostPatrol's contribution.
Opening night was huge, with a great turnout, lots of beer (Massive thanks to Julian for dashing out on a beer run after the sponsors drinks were all consumed.) and most of the pieces were sold.
As usual, Per Square Meter were brilliant hosts and extended way more than their fair share of hospitality.
For those of you who couldn't make it to opening night, the show is on until the 8th of June.

Yes Sean and I have given birth to a brand new webstore!
Our multi-page, PayPal enabled, bouncing BoT filled store came kicking and screaming into the world
on Sunday afternoon.
Since then there has been many sleepless nights and lots of crap to clean up, but that's to be expected.
Get your hands on some stuff… now!
Exciting news - Sean and I have our first ever show together as an "item" woooooooo!
Our cute lil'show will be held at Ruban Rat in Newtown (Sydney) with prints, custom vinyl, skateboards
and a few other goodies on show.
We hope to see some familiar faces there (Being from Melbs this will be our formal introduction to Sydney.)
If you can make it- come have a drink with us!
Please pass this on to many lovely Sydney peeps ;)

As the name suggest there was 1000 cans at this show making up 800 individual pieces of work
(or that's what I was told.) This was one hell of a show with plenty of well deserved hype in the lead-up
to opening night.
And with hype comes the masses, and with the masses come the tag alongs, and with the tag-alongs come -
well you get the point... Every tight jean'ed young thing and his crew was there and rolling deep.
(Most of them decked out in this seasons new black- Neon!)
For some this may sound like one of the unknown circles of hell, but once you pushed past the smoking hoards
out the front (Thank-you Melbourne and your strict smoking restrictions.) the soothing art of Two was there to
cleanse the mind and bring some well needed calm.
Two's 1000 can idea came from the Japanese folk tale which tells of anyone who folds a thousand paper cranes
would be granted a wish. (Did I mention Two is Japanese born? Everyone else did!) So with this story in mind Two spent the next 18 months painting cans. (most of them donated by other Melbourne street artists.)
The individual cans were arranged chronologically throughout two rooms with a few mural pieces thrown in for
good measure. Everywhere you looked was cans. (and people)
The cans are so intricately painted that it's almost hard to believe that Two spent a reported 2-3 hours on each one.
There was so many cans to see and choose from (yes they were for sale) that I couldn't choose a favorite so I let Sean go down the next day and choose 3 for us and left it as a surprise. (I still haven't seen what ones we got.)
Again I could go into masses of detail about what the work looks like, but a picture is worth a thousand words, and you can find at-least nine thousands words here.

On Friday I rocked on down to Per Square Meter to attend the opening night of "Prosperity Noodles" by Drew.
The event was billed as an art show and Chinese New Year celebration, which I thought was a brilliant idea!
Still on a promised "Good Vibe" I thought I'd share some around...
The night was a success with a huge turnout and plenty of great art (and noodles and beer!) and we were all kept thoroughly watered and amused untill the friendly curators had to turn the lights out on us and send everyone on
their merry way .
The colours are bright and the subjects full of energy and lots of quirk!
A self confessed addict of drawing noodle bowls and dragons Drew didn't disappoint.
The best piece of the night (along side the skateboards, which I love!) was the Fu-Dog Gangsta (pictured inside the window) but don't take my word for it, go visit Drew's flickr page- you won't be disappointed!
(p.s- Keep a look out for his cute colabs with other local artists.)
Oooh Monday how I dread you!
Monday has come around all too soon, and I find that I'm completely drained after spending the weekend trying to get some freelance finished...
Trying is probably not the best word to use here, because most of that "trying" time was spent "going through the creative process." (fellow artists/illustrators will know what I mean.)
I yelled, complained, threw sticks at the birds, drank tea, grabbed Sean around the head, decided I hated the entire world and spent some time sooking with my head in the pillows...
"I am never going to get this picture looking right- and everyone hates me!"
" What are you looking at- you think it looks stupid don't you?!"
" I'm just going to give up art and become one of those people who go to work and come home and watch tv!"
I eventually got around to doing some work at 8:00 Sunday night and worked through untill around Middnight-
So Now (with work still to do) I'm completely zonked.
The worst part is that now that it's Monday I'm chained to my "real" job for the next 5 days and only have after dinner to work on my freelance.
I think the only thing that helped me feel a little bit better was finding The artist's survival kit.
Thankyou Keri Smith, you have made my day!
For the really bad days, for the days when you want to quit, when you feel like everything you do is shit, when you feel your self-esteem plummet, when you decide that you would rather wait tables for a living, when you start to think you will never make a living making art, when you are working on something and feel like you hate it more than you've ever hated anything in your life, when someone makes an offhand remark about your work and afterwards you feel dejected, when you wish you had gone to school for accounting, when you start to believe that maybe your family was right, when you want to lie in bed for a month and eat chips.
